Top 10 Free Instagrammable Locations in London
Taking that perfect shot is hard, and can be, let’s face it, expensive! While it’s tempting to want to go to every cool looking bar and café in order to get that shot, sometimes it’d be nice to get a great pic free-of-charge. Each area on this list is free to enter/ visit. Happy snapping!
1. Kensington & Chelsea
While traipsing the sidewalks (British English: pavements) in the posh Kensington & Chelsea area, you are sure to come by some beautiful terrace houses or lovely mews that provide a perfect background to any snap!
2. Notting Hill/ Portobello Market
The famous colourful terrace houses of Notting Hill make for fabulous backdrops to any photo. Just don’t dilly-dally outside of a house too long - people still live there! Portobello Market is an equally great place to get some good shots or antique shops and pretty porcelain.
3. Camden
Cool Camden is a great place to take photos, especially near Camden Lock. It’s also great for a walk along the canal, and for grabbing a quick bite to eat while you browse tons of stalls with unique clothes & trinkets.
2. The Angel of Islington
Ah, Angel - what a heavenly place to be! Out of all the places I’ve lived in London, Angel was my favourite, and I still get a thrill every time I see the distinctive outline of angel wings in Angel Central.
5. Sky Garden
Believe it or not, as it’s considered a garden, Sky Garden is completely free to visit! The panoramic views of the city are spectacular, and after you’ve satisfied your eyes, you can take some time to get an aesthetic shot amongst the greenery growing 525 feet in the sky!
6. The tube (“underground”)
Look, you’re gonna be commuting. There will be delays. There are a myriad of stops with different vibes. Don’t knock it til you try it!
(I hate to admit it, there is something quite “iconic” when taking a photo inside one of the good ol’ tube tunnels - and the vibes can change drastically from station to station. Case in point below:)
7. Horizon 22
The latest panorama on this list, Horizon 22 is an excellent place for snaps and sass. It’s only a few minutes away from my favourite café (Host) in London, too!
8. Regent’s canal
Anywhere along this long canal that runs along North London is picturesque, and perfect for a stroll or a bike ride with friends.
7. Jubilee market (covent garden)
Covent Garden itself is already perfect for shots - but Apple Market and it’s surrounding area has tons of cute places for you to snap!
10. Millenium Bridge/ Exterior of St. Paul’s Cathedral
St. Paul’s Cathedral makes a perfect addition to any photo in London. Shots taken from Millenium Bridge add a pleasing touch of the Thames.
I also want to mention Oxford Street and Picadilly Circus, although it can be difficult to get a shot without many people in it due to the amount of tourists that flock there everyday.
So, what are you waiting for? Get out there and get from fantastic pictures - free of charge!
