5 Best... Pink Lipsticks!
I don’t think any lipstick collection is complete without a nice pink. Here’s a round-up of some of my current favourites!
Note: The black background is faux fur!
Lustre Lipstick in “Lovelorn” (MAC)
MAC claims this lustre lipstick leaves a “lustrous finish”, and they couldn’t be more right!
Lovelorn is a gorgeous soft pink lipstick that strikes the right balance between gloss-like shine, and a pleasing amount of pigment.
The formula is comfortable, and although it isn’t incredibly long lasting, it doesn’t stain lips or become flaky when worn for a long time.
PROS
Good balance between pigment/ shine
Comfortable
CONS
Not transfer proof
Not incredibly long lasting
Price: $18.50 (USD) / $23.00 (CAD) / €19.50 (EUR) / £17.50 (GBP)
Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm In “Pudgy Peony” (Clinique)
Clinique’s Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm is a great choice if you’re looking for a low-maintenance lip balm with a pleasing punch of colour.
Although this balm’s colour isn’t incredibly long-lasting (nor is it a stain), it’s a nice item to keep in your purse for those days when you’re on the go and just need a quick but classy refresher to your look. The Pudgy Peony shade gives off the effect of having eaten a high-end strawberry freezie or slurpee.
PROS
Good colour payoff (for a balm)
Moisturizing
CONS
Difficult to apply precisely
Colour not long lasting
Price: $18.50 (USD) / $23.00 (CAD) / €19.50 (EUR) / £17.50 (GBP)
Le Marc Lip Crème Lipstick in “Kiss Kiss Bang Bang” (Marc Jacobs)
If you’re not averse to shelling out a large sum for minimal (but marvellous) product, Le Marc Lip Crème Lipstick is a formula that is comfortable and easy to apply.
In particular, the colour Kiss Kiss Bang Bang is a soft rose colour that helps warm up cool-toned complexions.
Alternatively, Infamous would be another pink-based option that would flatter warmer-toned complexions.
PROS
Comfortable formula
Long-wearing
CONS
Heavily scented (could be a pro for some)
Expensive
Price: $39.00 (USD) / $32.00 (CAD) / €26.85 (EUR) / £23.00 (GBP)
Frog Prince (Lipstick Queen)
Frog Prince is the classier and more mature version of the colour changing balms some of us used as kids.
The balm, which becomes a specific colour of pink based on your pH, is universally flattering on any wearer. I really love the formula, and find it leaves a pleasing stain after the initial “shine” wears off.
For a natural looking “pink” shade, rest assured that this one is a good pick!
PROS
Moisturizing
Fun to use (I love seeing people’s faces when I pull out the green colour)
CONS
Leaves a stain (could be a pro for some)
Expensive (for a balm)
Price: $25.00 (USD) / $33.45 (CAD) / €24.00 (EUR) / £22.00 (GBP)
Creamy Matte Lip Paint in “Twerk” (Tarte)
Tarte’s Creamy Matte Lip Paint is great for those who crave the longevity of a liquid lipstick, but dread its drying effects.
The shade “Twerk” is a lovely raspberry pink that, while bold, is still quite easy to wear. The shade has a nice richness that I find very flattering in the fall.
PROS
Non-drying (for a liquid lip)
Comfortable formula
CONS
Requires lip liner to apply evenly
Not as transfer proof as most liquid lipsticks
Price: $20.00 (USD) / $25.00 (CAD) / €17.00 (EUR) / £14.50 (GBP)
