Top 3 Best Montréal Coffee Roasters (Canadian Coffee Roastery)
Montréal is a haven of good coffee. It was really difficult to narrow down this list, given that it’s virtually impossible to find a bad roastery in the French Canadian city.
Regardless, I gave myself a job to do, and I’ve done it. Below are my Top 3 favourite Montréal Coffee Roasters, that I consider must-trys. Feel free to let me know in the comments what your list would’ve been!

1. Cafe Saint-Henri micro-torrefacteur
Café Saint-Henri Micro-Torréfacteur (the French word for ‘micro-roastery’) is an excellent place from which to source coffee beans.
Something I admire about Saint-Henri is their ethical approach to sourcing beans. They make a point to buy from the source (direct trade), and support practices that ensure the pesticide-free and chemical fertilizer-free agriculture.
I have had the pleasure of trying multiple coffee beans from this roastery, and all three were exceptional. My personal favourite was the Oscar et Luis Monge, which were white honey-processed beans from Costa Rica.
They take ‘torréfaction’ très sérieusement, and it shows. All of their beans are well-made, and are processed to showcase a distinctive flavour profile. I highly recommend giving this brand a try!
Location: Montréal, QC
Café: 3632 Notre-Dame St W
2. CafE pista
It’s hard not to feel excited when taking a look at Cafe Pista’s telltale jungle green packaging; there’s always bold flavour inside!
This coffee roaster prides itself on delivering a high-quality farm-to-cup product. You’ll never be bored with their offerings, either - they always source coffee from different origins. The one thing that doesn't change is the level of expertise and care that goes into each bag.
One thing I really like about Pista, is that their website features a great deal of information on all of their roasted coffee beans. You can find out more basic overview information (country, region, method, etc.), as well as detailed write-ups as to each bean’s origins.
This Montréal roastery also has three cafés outposts, all of which are worth a visit. If I had to select my favourite, however, it would be ‘le Pista Masson’, as it’s the location at which the roast their coffee. The smell? Divine.
Location: Montréal, QC
Café: 500 Rue Beaubien E / 2650 Rue Masson / 1587 St Laurent Blvd
3. Le bruloir torrefacteur comptoir
Le Brûloir Torréfacteur Comptoir is a speciality coffee micro-brewery of high regard in Montréal. You can find their beans sold and supplied in multiple cafés throughout the French Canadian city.
In their words, there are three things on which they focus: « Sélectionner, torréfier et préparer les meilleurs cafés [Selecting, roasting, and preparing the best coffees] ». Unsurprisingly, they excel all-around in these areas.
Lucky for you, their coffee beans help any home-barista create delicious cups of coffee. (Even my friend, on her first attempt at making a pour-over, created a drinkable cup with the Idido Éthiopie beans.)
Le Brûloir has a great reputation, and it’s easy to see why. They are definitely a roaster whose beans are worth picking up!
Location: Montréal, QC
Café: 318 Fleury Ouest
