Best Canadian Coffee Roasters From Each Province / Territory (Canadian Coffee Roastery)
Canada is full of phenomenal coffee.
After taste-testing (perhaps too many) coffee beans from various Canadian roasters, I have come up with my ultimate list!
If you want more Canadian Coffee Roaster suggestions, be sure to check out my other posts:
Ontario
The Library Specialty Coffee Roasters
Location: Toronto (Dundas), ON
Café: 281 Dundas Street West
The Library Speciality Coffee began as a downtown Toronto café, that only got into roasting a few years into operating.
The café clearly took note as to what its customers liked, as its beans are always well made, and varied. On top of classic offerings, TLS often has seasonal blends and geishas. Rather than all the coffee having the same price per bag, each bag of beans is priced dependant on the beans used.
The beans I would suggest sipping are either Los Narajos - Honduras and The Konga - Ethiopia.
Their website has free Canadian shipping over orders of $75.00 or more.

Quebec
Café Pista
Location: Montréal, Québec
It’s hard not to feel excited when taking a look at Cafe Pista’s telltale jungle green packaging; there’s always bold flavour inside!
This coffee roaster prides itself on delivering a high-quality farm-to-cup product. You’ll never be bored with their offerings, either - they always source coffee from different origins. The one thing that doesn't change is the level of expertise and care that goes into each bag.
One thing I really like about Pista, is that their website features a great deal of information on all of their roasted coffee beans. You can find out more basic overview information (country, region, method, etc.), as well as detailed write-ups as to each bean’s origins.
This Montréal roastery also has three cafés outposts, all of which are worth a visit. If I had to select my favourite, however, it would be ‘le Pista Masson’, as it’s the location at which the roast their coffee. The smell? Divine.
british columbia
ROCANINI COFFEE ROASTERS
Location: Vancouver, BC
he most recent coffee beans I’ve had the delight of trying have been from Rocanini Coffee Roasters.
This west coast roaster has some brightly-coloured packaging with beans sourced from unique places, such as Yemen and Jamaica.
The Canadian roaster is a passion project between an “enthusiastic young group” of people. Their name - a derivative of the Latin word for rock - represents that their brand is founded upon presence and strength.
What I would recommend trying are the Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Wolde Hirbe Natural. They are fantastic and full-bodied natural-processed beans.
Alberta
MONOGRAM COFFEE
Location: Calgary, Alberta
This award-winning coffee company sources, roasts, and serves their namesake beans at three cafés in Calgary. Their 20 years of experience is evident in the quality of their beans, that never disappoint.
Their beans are a staple in many Canadian cafés, and are always a delight to sip. They also ship all across Canada, which is perfect during this self-isolating time.
I adore Ruben Dario and La Llama, and their are other brews on my radar!
Saskachewan
Rampage coffee roasters
Location: Saskatoon, SK
Rampage Coffee Roasters is as cool as it gets.
Each bag of beans is micro-batch and hand-roasted, to ensure quality and precision.
Rampage believe so highly in the quality of the beans, that they make a point to not use artificial flavours. They also make a point to be sustainable and ethical in the sourcing of their beans.
While not obligatory, I do appreciate the really fun packaging, which is an added bonus that can kickstart your day.
Many of their offerings are bold, and full-bodied. Get ready for your tastebuds to take a journey with this speciality coffee roaster!
manitoba
Thom Bargen Coffee Roaster
Location: Winnipeg, MB
Thom Borgen provides this prairie province with exquisite beans.
The roasted beans I’ve had the delight of trying have always been well-roasted, and full of flavour.
The company is clearly just as committed to coffee sourcing, as it is about coffee brewing.
A lovely addition to their website is their ‘Farm Stories’ page, which highlights many of the farmers with which they work. I recommend giving it a read, as it is informative, and makes one appreciative of the beans on offer!
Overall, I encourage you to give this ethical and lovely coffee roaster a try!

Gros Morne Coffee Roasters

The East Coast is well-caffeinated thanks to Gros Morne Coffee Roasters!
Like the namesake national park, the flavourful beans on offer can be bold and adventurous..
Everything sold is fair trade, and organic. There’s beans for everyone, from light roasts, to dark roasts. Furthermore, depending one your preference, you can pick either specific blends, or single origin beans.

nova scotia
Anchored Coffee roaster
Location: Halifax, NS
Say hello to Anchored Coffee Roaster!
This Nova Scotian coffee roastery pride themselves on consistency, and I’m happy to say they’ve achieved this goal!
I’ve enjoyed many of their coffee beans, and I have never been disappointed.
In regards to ethics, Anchored makes a point to be transparent about where they source their beans, and make a point to build relationships with those with whom they source their products.
They roast their beans on a weekly basis, so a fresh bag is always available!

New Brunswick
Down East Coffee and Café
Location: Moncton, NB
Down East Coffee & Café is a very special roastery hailing from New Brunswick.
Their beans are phenomenal, and packed with complex flavours. They definitely have their own particular taste.
All of their coffees are small-batch, fair-trade, and organic. There is a lot to explore taste-wise, as the roastery makes a point to offer many single original Class 1 specialty grade coffees.
They are one of the most unique roasters on this list, in thanks to their Aroma Nica coffee beans. In their words: “For over a decade, Down East Coffee has had a direct trade relationship with the Fiallos family of Nicaragua. Of rare quality, our Aroma Nica coffee beans produce great results when roasted brown, medium dark and black. Each type of roast offers distinct taste profiles and characteristics, all of which are delightful with exquisite aroma.” If that doesn’t intrigue you, nothing will!
If you are adventurous with your beans, this is a must!
