How To Wear Thigh Highs (Outfit Inspiration)
Thigh Highs, in my opinion, are a wardrobe staple.
While some may believe they’re too sexy or too cute to wear on a daily basis, I highly disagree, and consider them rather versatile. Below, I’ve created outfits out of basic wardrobe essentials, that are elevated thanks to the use of thigh-highs. Whether you want to play it safe or sexy, there’s an option for you!
For other Outfit Inspiration, check out my posts on White Jeans, Pleated Skirts, 70s Wide-Leg Pants/ Trousers, Dr Martens, and Crop Tops.
Now, read on to see why you need to invest in this wear-with-everything piece! Zettai Royuiki has never been so simple!
CUTE Factor
Play upon the inherent cuteness of thigh highs, with a pleated skirt, a frilly top, and chunky sneakers.
There are so many permutations of this outfit - just grab a cute top, and pair with a basic pleated skirt. If your shoes match your thigh-highs, it’ll help elongate the leg. To ensure it’s not too messy, try to keep it this look to three colours, maximum!

Cool/Chic
I don’t care what you say - a monochromatic outfit, broken up with a hint of leg, is insanely cool.
To recreate this cool look, find a short dress/ skirt/ shorts, and pair it with thigh highs of the same colour.
Play around with textures to keep it interesting!

Artsy
The kooky touches - oversizes red glasses, a beret, a harness - make these thigh highs feel more kooky and fun, rather than sexy.
To recreate this look, play around with a traditional bottom half (same colour pleated skirt/ thigh high/ Oxford shoe), mixed with quirky additions up top (perhaps a bow-tie, a beret, pigtails… whatever tickles your fancy)!

French Connection
Thigh highs + Blazer = Modern AF.
Parisian cobblestones are no fun, so a pair of white sneakers are a must in the French capital. Pair them with a monochromatic ensemble that bares a hint of leg, which will keep you cool and comfortable.
To replicate this look, try pairing a short dress and blazer, with a pair of thigh highs. You can easily swap the white sneakers for black ones, or high-heeled booties!

Wildcard
This look is anything but safe.
If you’re a bit more adventurous with your fashion, try pairing a ‘cute’ pleated skirt + blouse ensemble with translucent thigh highs. This is a more futuristic take on the trend.
Beware: You might have people doing a double-take as you walk by!

In Uniform
I never wore uniforms growing up, but if I did, I’d want them to look like this!
Play upon the ‘uniformed’ look of thigh highs with a pleated skirt, and a collar + shirt combo. Oxfords add a touch of chic, and the red sunglasses add a touch of whimsy.
To recreate this look —> keep the colours simple, and the pieces traditional. One or two small pops of colours encouraged!
