Whisked Gluten-Free Bakery (Celiac Friendly)
Celiacs and gluten-sensitive folks can let out a sigh of relief - and maybe even a squeal of joy - when checking out the cakes at Whisked Gluten Free.
While everything - yes, everything - in the store is free from gluten, the cakes still use the other yummy ingredients, like eggs and dairy, to give it that traditional ‘cake’ feel.
Gluten free sponge, with a buttercream frosting…? Uhm, yes please!
If a full cake isn’t your thing, there are also cupcakes for sale. And, if you still want to avoid animal products, there are vegan options available. Cheers to that!

Bunner’s Bakeshop (Celiac Friendly + Vegan)
Another celiac haven is Bunner’s Bakeshop!
This bakery is both gluten free and vegan, yet you’d never know! There must be some witchcraft going on behind the scenes, because their cakes are somehow too good to be true.
Bunner’s always has a long line-up, but it’s worth the wait. Their treats, as well as their cakes, are always well-made, and have a very satisfying texture.
The big draws for me at Bunner’s are the flavours. Traditional offerings (chocolate, vanilla) exist alongside inventive ones (S’mores, Nanaimo, Mocha). What they all have in common is an excellent design, which compliments the flavours inside.
With inventive flavours (S’mores, Nanaimo, Mocha, etc.) and fun designs, anyone would love to receive a slice of these phenomenal cakes.

Yoona's Kitchen (Celiac + keto + vegan options)
Are you gluten-free and keto? If so, Yoona’s Kitchen is my top pick for you!
Developed to suit the gluten-free and diabetic dietary requirements of her father, Yoona, an avid baker, makes delightful cakes and treats that still satisfy a (safe) sweet tooth.
The bakery has over 70 options of keto baked goods. All of their products are, in their words:
“Keto, Diabetic Friendly, Gluten-Free, Paleo-Inspired, and Non-GMO. They're also made with 100% natural, organic, and local ingredients whenever possible, without the use of preservatives or synthetic flavors.”
And if you’re wondering about the flavour… It’s definitely there. Yum!

Bobbette & Belle (Not Celiac Friendly)
If a stereotypical birthday cake isn’t your fancy, Bobbette & Belle make a fabulous flourless torte that is hard to resist.
This torte is rich, and has an intense chocolate flavour. Think more melt-in-your-melt, as opposed to spongy.
Now, do keep in mind that Bobbette & Belle is not suitable for celiacs. However, it is naturally flourless, so it’s intended for those who are simply gluten sensitive, or gluten avoidant.
If a whole torte isn’t your thing, Bobbette & Belle do sell this by-the-slice. And, if you can indulge in it while accompanied by some fresh coffee, what’s not to love?

bloomer’s (Not Celiac Friendly)
Bloomer’s is a 100% vegan bakery that specializes in donuts.
Case in point? The donut cake is major.
Their cakes are fun, flavourful, and would easily satisfy non-vegans, as well. There are multiple options for those with alternative diets, with gluten free variants available,
Buy some more donuts while you’re stopping by for cake and thank me later!

Phipps Bakery (NOT CELIAC FRIENDLY)
Note: Phipps Bakery is another bakery that is not suitable for celiacs. Despite this, they have some naturally flourless cakes that are great for gluten avoidant/gluten sensitive folks.
The two that require a mention are the Flourless Chocolate Cake, and the Park Avenue Mousse Cake.
The former is an intensely chocolatey delight, with a light and fluffy interior. It also has a mop of shaved milk chocolate and mousse on top, which is a welcome delicate texture.
The Park Avenue Mousse Cake has a more complex flavour profile, and texture. White chocolate curls adorn a chocolate sponge interior, surrounded by Belgian chocolate mousse cake.
Whichever you pick, it’s safe to say that these cakes will be a hit!

ORGANIC BYTES (CELIAC FRIENDLY + REFINED SUGAR FREE + CLEAN + VEGAN OPTIONS)
If you are health conscious, then Organic Bytes should be at the top of your list.
All of their cakes are free from refined sugars, white flours, gluten, artificial food colourings, and unnecessary additives and fillers. They are just full of 100% organic ingredients that are required to make a healthy and delicious option for many dietary requirements, including vegan lifestyles.
While the cakes are very pricey, they do use organic and expensive high-quality ingredients (sadly dye-free colourings and cashews aren’t cheap).
For a sweet but healthy treat, try them out! Also consider their cake decorating workshops, of which I included my creation below!
Note: The frosting is cashew based, so this is not suitable for those with a nut allergy.
BEWARE: There is no physical location, and no option for pickup. You must order delivery, and it can be rather expensive: $25.00 or $10.00 frozen. I do hope this can be sorted out in the future as it has deterred me from ordering more cakes!
