Chambelland Boulangerie - Gluten Free Bakery & Patisserie in Paris
Although the idea of travelling to Paris - nation of gorgeous & glutionous & gluten-filled treats - may strike fear into the hearts of any Celiac or Gluten-Intolerant traveller, there are options for us out there! One of said options: Chambelland Boulangerie.
This completely celiac-friendly bakery and café in Paris was started by Nathaniel Doboin and Thomas Teffri-Chambelland, who make a point of using certified organic ingredients that are ground in their own mill. They also knead and cook all of their breads themselves in their own oven - no cross-contamination! Yay!
Among their many bread offerings, they also have desserts. However, if I can be honest, their bread really is their standout product. I make frequent trips to the bakery whenever I’m in Paris to stock up my apartment.
My favourite of all of their bread offerings is the foccacia with Apulia black olives, and the plain sourdough loaf. They also offer sandwiches that you can enjoy at one of their patio tables.
Enjoy this silly photo of a messy (but incredibly delicious) lunch I put together at my place a couple of months ago. Chambelland bread was definitely on the menu (as well as cheese, wine, olives… all the good stuff)!
There is no need to fret if you’re a celiac visitng Paris. There are delicious options out there that can allow you to indulge in local cuisine without sacrificing your health. Although the amount of “gluten” bakeries far outweigh their gluten-free counterparts, it’s definitely a market that is becoming more and more porfitable - and therefore prominent - in France. There are already more options now than there were 10 years ago, and I have a feeling that the amoutn of gluten free offerings will only increase in the years to come!
Thank you for reading, lovely! Happy Gluten-Free Eating!
