Bancone
Bancone’s menu is small, but mighty. What they do, they do very well.
While not every option on the menu can be made gluten-free, Bacone has one of the best, fresh gluten free pasta bases. The flourless alternative is satisfying, not starchy, and retains its shape. In regards to the sauces, this is where Bancone truly shines. Classics like Cacio e Pepe and spaghetti ‘Alla Chitarra’ are made with high-quality ingredients that leave you wanting more, more, more.
With three restaurants, and a shoutout on the Michelin 2024 list, you shouldn’t think twice about visiting!

El pollote
Gluten Free fried chicken, and luscious latin food? Sign. Me. UP!
El Pollote is a casual-but-cool eatery, with nearly an entirely gluten free menu. The wings are crispy, the yuca chips are fluffy, and the sauces are spicy.
For a fun night out, this is absolutely a vibe.
Favourite Cake: Buffanero Wings
Location:
13 Ganton St, Carnaby, London
hakata
Those who avoid gluten shouldn’t have to skip out on ramen! Thanks to Hakata, they don’t have to!
This ramen place serves up multiple gluten free broth options. This is exciting given other places offer only one gluten-free AND vegan broth. Choices? Revolutionary.
On top of excellent ramen, they also have a ton of gluten free appetizers that are well-worth trying. Top of the list? The fried chicken. YUM.
Favourite Menu Item: Miso Ramen
Location:
177 Bermondsey St, London
theo’s
One of my favourite gluten free pizza bases in London is found, without a doubt, at Theo’s.
Unlike other gluten free pizza bases which are often thin and crispy, Theo’s makes a satisfying thick and fluffy gluten free Neapolitan-style sourdough pizza.
There are classic toppings, as well as more fun options (i.e. Scotch Bonnet Nduja and Chestnut Mushroom). Theo’s also offers a dairy-free cheese option for those who are vegetarian or vegan.
Definitely give it a try!

that wing place
Korean Fried Chicken. Gluten Free. Need I say more?
A lovely family-run business, That Wing Place makes phenomenal fried chicken that will make you crave more, more, more. Delectably spicy and flavourful sauces, with the crispiest of chicken skin, make this an absolute must.
Favourite Dish: Korean Chili Glazed Wings
Location:
209-211 Holloway Rd, London
old compton brasserie
I adore the upscale casual vibe at Old Compton Brasserie.
On top of a trendy interior, most of the menu can be adapted to those who are gluten free. A dedicated gluten free fryer adds an extra safe and sound dimension for all flourless folks.
One thing I want to note - this gluten free fish batter is the BEST you will ever have. My gluten-eating friends even admit it’s incredible. Sashay over today!
Favourite Dish: Fish & Chips
Location:
36-38 Old Compton Street, London
sambal shiok Laksa Bar
I have been a fan of Sambal Shiok for years now. While I no longer live a few minutes walk away near Holloway Road, I make a point to visit every so often simply because their laksa - and their clarence court eggs! - are legendary.
The cost-to-quality ratio of this warming soup is also top-tier. Big, hearty bowls full of fulfilling liquid make this a perfect meal alone, or with friends.
The equation is simple:
Fragrant Broth + gluten free noodles+ delicious toppings = must-try spot.
Favourite Dish: Signature Curry Laksa
Location:
171 Holloway Rd, London
wingmans
I go to Wingman’s far, far too much. The amount of times I have gotten takeout wings and eaten them on the last tube home is embarrassing.
When I’m not in a rush, sitting down for some fresh wings is an absolute pleasure. Not all wing options are gluten-free, but the ones that are pack a punch. That, mixed with a dedicated fryer for their multiple chip options, make this a standout spot.
Definitely try their Truffalo Wings! I dream of them.
Favourite Dish: Truffalo Wings
Location:
29-31 Old Compton St, London
Lahpet
Lahpet is one of London’s sole Burmese restaurant, and luckily it does the cuisine justice!
Flavour-packed curries and noodle-dishes make this a spot sure to please a wide variety of diners. The menu is clearly marked with gluten free options, so it’s very easy to order a meal that’s suite to your dietary requirements.
With a few restaurants across London, be sure to give it a try!
Favourite Dish: Hake Masala

58 Bethnal Grn Rd, London
sale e pepe
Although another lovely Italian restaurant on the list, Sale e Pepe holds its own against my other suggestions.
This place serves up hearty favourites (bolognese or carbonara) along with fancier fare (shellfish risotto or pumpkin and sage tortellini). Everything is nestled within a rather intimate setting. This is a spot you’d want to take a date you want to impress!
The one item I need to highlight is their Gluten Free breaded Bone-in Pan-Fried Veal Chop. I mean… Come on! You never get a flourless Vitello all Milanese! Go try one, and thank me later.
Favourite Dish: Tagliatelle alla Bolognese
Location:
9-15 Pavilion Rd, London
ma la sichuan
Gluten Free Chinese? Yes, please!
I have such a soft spot for Ma La Sichuan. Their service is some of the friendliest you’ll find in London (sometimes a struggle).
A separate gluten free menu boasts egg-fried rice, ginger chicken, and salt and pepper tofu, amongst any other options.
Go hungry, leave happy!
