VELA
Check out my post featuring Vela about Gluten-Free Brunch spots in Toronto!
Vela Toronto is my new favourite restaurant in King West area. No contest.
The offspring of a gluten-free and non-gluten free couple, this is a perfect spot for mixed dietary restriction diners. The majority of the menu can be modified for Gluten Free, including all the pastas. They also have dairy-free options, and nut-free options. Vela really is the place for inclusive dining!
Their dinners are luxurious New American fare. Their brunch, offered only on Sundays, is worth booking. Exclusive items like a Salmon Tower, Brown Butter Hollandaise, and even a Korean-inspired eggplant omelette are a treat for the palette.
Bonus? There’s live jazz!
I also need to shoutout their gluten free desserts - they are insanely good. There is choice, and they don’t feel like an afterthought (side-eyeing sorbets and fruit…).
Above all, the opera cake is sublime. It’s better than opera cakes I had before I went gluten free. I even went with a non-gluten free diner, who was blown away. Trust me - it’s a must.
Vela is pricey, bur worth it. Give it a go!
Favourite Dish: Brown Butter Hollandaise (brunch) and Fried Maitake Mushrooms (dinner)

SCORE ON KING
A casual sports with a dedicated gluten free fryer for all sides? Yes, please!
Sweet potato fries, onion rings, chicken wings, gluten free beer, and burgers (with satisfying bunds) are things Celias can enjoy at this spot on King. A bit pricier than your average sports bar, but sadly that’s the price of keeping safe.
Favourite Dish: Onion Rings

107 King St East
HUGS AMD SARCASM
No /sarcasm here - almost the entire menu at Hugs and Sarcasm can be modified to accommodate gluten free diners!
Few things are better than an all-day brunch spot (and by all-day, I do mean all-day - this spot is open until midnight or 2:00a.m. on Thurs-Sun).
Hugs and Sarcasm has an extensive menu of indulgent comfort foods. With trivia nights, and a British tuck shop inside, you’ll be coming back for the food and staying for the fun!
There is even a dedicated gluten free fryer to ensure even celiac diners feel safe and satisfied. Woo!
